As a result of the many
partnerships and alliances developed during the International Week on
Distance Education, organized by FUNGLODE/GFDD in Santo Domingo, February
13-17, 2006, one of the participating institutions, Metropolitan
Technological University, UTEM
Virtual for its Spanish initials, donated the Dominican
Ministry of Basic Education with free access to the Drweb platform.
The donation of a Distance
Education Drweb Platform, fully developed by UTEMVirtual, will grant free
access by all secondary education centers in the Dominican Republic. This
donation is part of a wider cooperation among both institutions, which
comes to fruition through the goods auspices of GFDD/FUNGLODE.
The introduction and expansion of the use of technology in all aspects of education is one of the goals of GFDD/FUNGLODE. The creation of a Virtual University of the Dominican Republic is one of our main projects to make information and training accessible to all the population and to support the distribution of information about the Dominican Republic.
