InteRDom Students Honored by Iberoamericana University
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, August 11th, 2006

InteRDom students Jonathan D'Oleo, José Blanco, Josef Miller, Holly Owens and Alexandra Hinojosa were honored this week in a ceremony at the Iberoamericana University (also known as UNIBE), where for the past two months they have taking classes as part of the InteRDom program.

As well as working with Dominican companies and organizations such as CEI-RD, ANU-RD, Sans Souci Ports, INTEC and AMCHAM, the students had the opportunity to complement their internship by studying subjects including Caribbean Culture and History and Commercial Law with professors Pedro Cabiya and Sagrario Feliz Luciano. Dr. Cabiya accompanied the students over the course of the summer to a series of historical landmarks studied during class.

Future InteRDom students will be able to take an array of subjects at UNIBE, such as Business in Latin American and Caribbean Countries; Biodiversity in the Caribbean; and Ethno-Cultural Identity in the Contemporary Caribbean Community.

Internships in the Dominican Republic (InteRDom) is an initiative developed by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development / Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo and is dedicated to fostering exchanges between international and Dominican students to ensure that young people benefit from the country’s historical and cultural heritage through educational exchanges and its internship program.
