Two days of fundamental information about film, a detailed information exchange about how a film is made, turned the “Introduction in Film Techniques: Use of the Camera, Composing and Lights” workshop into a fascinating experience for its more than 50 participants.
Juan Basanta, Dominican cinematographer, shared his experiences with the participants, and also as part of the program there was a questions and answer portion with Luis Llosa, director of the film “The Feast of the Goat” (La Fiesta del Chivo).
Basanta, a graduate from the Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba, explained during the workshop the different uses of lenses, adjustment of the iris, shutter speed, focus, and many other topics.
Basanta is currently one of the most experienced cinematographers in the Dominican Republic. He has worked on many projects locally and internationally as are: “The Feast of the Goat”, “The Lost City”, “Yes”, among others.
This workshop is part of the many programs of the Global Media Arts Institute from GFDD/ FUNGLODE. It was also presented with the collaboration of New York University Opportunities Program and One Race Films. |
