Six of the Movies Portrayed in the DRGFF were nominated for the Oscars
New York, January 22nd, 2007.

Six of the movies that were first portrayed in the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, which took place from November 8-12 and organized by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and its sister organization in Santo Domingo, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo.

Babel, has received the most nominations (7) one of which is Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress. Pans Labyrinth received six (6) nominations: best foreign language film, original script and photography, among others.

Some of the other movies nominated were Volver, where Penelope Cruz has been nominated for Best Actress; the Last King of Scotland has also put Forest Whitaker on the nomination list as Best Actor. Also an Inconvenient Truth and Water topped the list of nominations.
