School of the Future Model
New York, January 26th, 2007.

The School of the Future is a high school founded in the area of Fermon Park in West Philadelphia and its main objective is to embody innovation and technology. This initiative is an effort of Microsoft and the School District of Philadelphia, where 750-students of a high school level will be part of an innovative learning system where the main component is the student, not the teacher.
The Primary goal of the project is to infuse technology into every aspect of the anytime, anywhere environment as a means to prepare our students for the future workforce or optimize their entry into a college, university, or technical school of their choice. In essence, this is an attempt to close the digital divide in our community, a gap that still exists between private and public schools, and one that exists between urban and suburban schools.

During the visit, GFDD representatives received information about the school vision, the process and all the information about the Project, followed by a tour to in the building. The purpose of this visit by GFDD was to obtain information on the technologies and models used in this project for future possibilities of innovation in the Dominican Republic.
