“New York – Dominican Republic Model United Nations Conference”

For the fifth time, UNA-DR accomplishes one of its mail goals: getting the Dominican population and the Dominican Diaspora in the United States to support the work of the United Nations, through activities that promote its functioning. That is the case of the “New York – Dominican Republic Model United Nations Conference (NYDRMUN 2007).
This year, NYDRMUN 2007 will bring together 500 high school and university students from the Dominican Republic and the United States. The participants will be debating current international issues in two of the official languages of the United Nations: English and Spanish. Some of these topics are: the Effects of the International Migration in the Social and Economic Development, the Situation in Somalia, the International Cooperation in the fight against Corruption, and Education for Sustainable Development.
This conference is being organized in coordination with the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic at the United Nations, The City University of New York (CUNY) and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
The NYDRMUN 2007 will be held from April 18th – 22nd, 2007 at the United Nations Headquarters and at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, both located in New York City, United States of America. On Thursday, April 19th and Friday April 20th, all committees will have debate sessions at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan. On Saturday, April 21st, we will have panel discussions and participation by staff and specialized experts of the United Nations at the UN Headquarters.
