First Workshop on Participative Processes for the Effective Management of the Sosúa Marine Park
New York, April 17th, 2007.
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development/ Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo in collaboration with Sosúa Marine Park and Counterpart International are organizing the first workshop on: “Participative Processes for the Effective Management of the Sosúa Marine Park.”
The objectives of the workshop are: to define the park’s objectives, to promote effective management of the Sosúa marine area; to identify areas for conservation; and to define indicators for planning, evaluation, and monitoring of the park.
The trainers for the workshop will be Kelvin Guerrero of Counterpart International, Massimilian Scerra, Executive Director of the Sosúa Submarine Thematic Park; and Emy Rodriguez, Research Assistant for Environmental Issues for FUNGLODE.
Representatives from the following institutions will be attending this lecture: the Ministry for Coastal & Marine Concerns, the Ministry for Protected Areas & Biodiversity, the Board of Trustees for the Sosúa Marine Park, the Asociación de Vendedores y Artesanos de la Playa Sosúa, the Asociación de Pescadores de Sosúa, the Asociación de Hoteles y Restaurantes de Sosúa, the Asociación Dominicana de Escuela de Buceos, and the Cluster Turisticos de Sosúa.
This workshop will take place April 21st, 2007 at the Casa Marina Hotel in Sosúa from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
This event is part of GFDD/ FUNGLODE’s commitment to promote the exchange of ideas and the transfer of knowledge in key areas of social, economic and political development in the Dominican Republic.
