Virtual Educa constitutes an Inter-American meeting place for institutions, private sector, education networks, training institutions and civil society. It has become a reflection of the inter-american dialogue and a manifestation of the Inter-American Community of Nations on training and social development. Virtual Educa is supported by the Inter-American Secretariat for Development (SECIB), the Organization of Inter-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI), the Organization of American States (OAS), UNESCO, and other well-known Inter-American institutions.

Previous editions took place in Valencia (City of the Arts and Science, June 2002), Miami (International Convention Center, June 2003), and in Barcelona (World Forum, June 2004.) The next meetings will take place in Mexico City (June 2005,) Bilbao (June 2006,) and Brazil (June 2007.)

Organized by the National Autonomous University of México , Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, (UNAM ), this VI edition will be held at the Palacio de la Minería (Mexico City, June 20-24, 2005.) The XI Meeting of the Inter-American Association of Distance Education (AIESAD), the IV Extraordinary Assembly of Latin American Universities (UDAL); the IV Virtual Educa Inter-American Rectors Conference-organized by the Mexican Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), the IV e-Learning Forum are some of the activities hosted by Virtual Educa.

The period for submission of papers is now open until March 15, 2005 .
