  THE GLOBAL FOUNDATION FOR DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT AND ITS U.S. OFFICE (GFDD) SIGNED AN AGREEMENT WITH THE WORLD BANK'S GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT LEARNING NETWORK (GDLN) AND THE INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (INAP)

The agreement's objective is to support the poverty reduction initiatives and the economic and social development of developing countries through the exchange of experiences and knowledge utilizing the new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

The GDLN, a World Bank initiative offers different distance learning resources and services, aiming at promoting the consolidation of networks and communities to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, support training initiatives, consulting and other activities for dialogue.

The agreement was signed on February 28 th, 2005 in Santo Domingo by FUNGLODE's external relations director, Mrs.
 
Natasha Despotovic and the GDLN regional coordinator, Mr. David Gray.

After this event, both parties signed a collaborative agreement with the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP), represented by its Director, Mr. Roberto Obando. For the last couple of years, the INAP has been the focal point of GDLN activities in the Dominican Republic . Through this agreement, FUNGLODE in the Dominican Republic and its office in Washington D.C. , GFDD will support the initiatives undertaken by INAP and the GDLN.

The first collaborative activity will take place on March 29th, 2005. The institutions will coordinate the conference "Business Opportunities between the Hispanic and Caribbean communities in the US and their countries of origin". This conference will be transmitted life via the GDLN videoconferencing facilities.
