At the 6th Annual Conference Virtual Educa, FUNGLODE – GFDD coordinated the session “Applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to Education: Strategic Partnerships between the Civil Society and Public and Private Sectors”

In collaboration with Microsoft and Virtual Educa, FUNGLODE – GFDD coordinated the session “Applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to Education: Strategic Partnerships between the Civil Society and the Public and Private Sectors”. This session presented the experiences from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. The presentation of the Dominican experience was in charge

of Dr. Ligia Amada Melo, Minister of Education of the Dominican Republic, Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD in the US, Cristian Matias, Director of ICTs in the Ministry of Education in the DR and Paul Goris, ICT Manager in FUNGLODE in the Dominican Republic as well as representatives of the programs from the above mentioned countries.


During the presentations, panelists highlighted the work accomplished by the Colombian program “Computadores para Educar”, the Program from Brazil "Alumno monitor y objetos de aprendizaje" and the Mexican experience of "Escalabilidad de Maestros". All these experiences presented successful cases of partnerships between the public and private sectors and the civil society. Panelists highlighted the importance of maximizing the knowledge and experiences of each of the partners as well as incorporating different elements to respond to the specific needs of each country. The Dominican team highlighted the accomplishments obtained by the alliance among the Secretary of Education, Microsoft and FUNGLODE.

The participation of GFDD in this conference constitutes an effort to share and distribute useful and successful experiences obtained by different projects in the Dominican Republic in order to contribute to the horizontal cooperation with other countries in the region.
