7th LECTURE OF THE AMERICAS PRESENTED JOSE MIGUEL INSULZA, SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES (OAS)

The OAS Secretary General, Mr. Jose Miguel Insulza presentation on "Hemispheric Integration: An Overview of Challenges and Perspectives" held at the San Martín de Porres University in Lima Peru, on July 15th was retransmitted via radio, television and Internet as part of the 7th Lecture of the Americas.

Those participating in the panel discussion that followed the keynote lecture held at the San Martín de Porres University in Lima Peru, were Michael Shifter, Vice President for Policy at the Inter-American Dialogue, José Antonio García Belaunde, Advisor to the Andean Community of Nations, Rafael Roncagliolo of IDEA International. Irene Klinger, Director of the OAS Department of Communications and External Relations and Coordinator of the Lecture Series of the Americas program, moderated the panel discussion.

During the lecture OAS Secretary General José Miguel Insulza said that "poverty and unemployment are to blame for the problems of governance and instability in Latin American countries."

This lecture was transmitted in FUNGLODE headquarters in Santo Domingo to a wide audience. The transmission and dissemination of the series in the Dominican Republic are part of the agreement between FUNGLODE/GFDD and the OAS which aims at promoting and supporting the OAS Lecture of the Americas in the Dominican Republic.
