At the 6th Annual Conference Virtual Educa, FUNGLODE – GFDD coordinated the session “Applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to Education: Strategic Partnerships between the Civil Society and Public and Private Sectors”

In collaboration with Microsoft and Virtual Educa, FUNGLODE – GFDD coordinated the session “Applying Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to Education: Strategic Partnerships between the Civil Society and the Public and Private Sectors”. This session presented the experiences from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. The presentation of the Dominican experience was in charge of Dr. Ligia Amada Melo, Minister of Education of the Dominican Republic, Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of GFDD in the US, Cristian Matias, Director of ICTs in the Ministry of Education in the DR and Paul Goris, ICT Manager in FUNGLODE in the Dominican Republic as well as representatives of the programs from the above mentioned countries.

XIII Annual Conference of the Caribbean Studies Association

More than 400 researchers and academics from prestigious institutions in the Western Hemisphere gathered in Santo Domingo from May 30th to June 4th for the XIII Annual Conference of the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA). The central theme of the event was “The Caribbean Cooperation in the Age of Information Society”.

GFFD and FUNGLODE coordinated the Conference “The Role of Education in Community Development: Teacher Training in Curriculum Design”
June 2nd, 2005
This conference was delivered by Pedro Noguera, Director of the Metropolitan Center of Urban Education at New York University in FUNGLODE’s auditorium in the Dominican Republic. The objective of this conference was to present a number of guidelines to direct teachers and policy makers in how to design a curriculum that will promote the participation and involvement of students in the development of their own communities.
