FUNGLODE offered a course on ¨Design and Development of Websites”
May 16th – 20th, 2005

This course’s objective was to train teachers and students in the necessary tools such as HTML, Javascript y XML to develop web sites and publish them on the Internet. The course focused on demonstrating and teaching the best practices in the composition of key elements used in educational websites, so that the students will be able to contribute to the educational sector of the Dominican Republic.

Political expert Howard J. Wiarda dictated course on politics in Latin America

Howard J. Wiarda, Director of the Department for International Affairs at the University of Georgia dictated the course "Cultural Tradition and Politics in Latin America " directed to professionals and students interested in international relations and political and social sciences. The course was dictated for two days, from May 3 rd to 4 th , and it was delivered at FUNGLODE's headquarters in Santo Domingo.

First Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in the Dominican Republic

Conference with John B. Taylor, former deputy Secretary of the US Treasury for International Relations was transmitted in FUNGLODE’s headquarters

May 19th, 2005.



During this conference, which was the fifth event of the OAS Lecture of the Americas, John B. Taylor pointed out the positive outlook for the Latin American countries, which has been reflected on the recent economic growth that most of them have been experiencing. The main argument of his conference was the strong linkage between democracy and economic growth.

During the closing ceremony of CILA 2005, President Leonel Fernández highlighted the impact accomplished by the UN Association in the Dominican Republic on thousands of students from countries such as Argentina, Nepal, Netherlands, Ecuador, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, among other.

International Conference of the Americas (CILA 2005) counted with more than 1,200 students from the region

The United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) in collaboration with the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and its sister institution Global Foundation for Democracy and Development from the US (GFDD) coordinated the International Conference of the Americas (CILA 2005) that took place from 11 to 15 May 2005 in Bavaro in Dominican Republic.
