Task Force Dominican Republic - Florida

Objectives

The task force's main objectives are to:
  • Improve the capacity of Florida firms to conduct international business in the Dominican Republic.
  • Increase the number of Florida firms involved in international business in the Dominican Republic.
  • Enhance Florida's business image abroad via a marketing campaign in the Dominican Republic.
  • Establish regional business-to-business trade linkages through trade missions.
  • Target services that support trade (such as legal, communications, insurance, engineering, and banking) to enhance FLA's attractiveness as an international business center.
  • Capitalize on the leading-edge trade expertise of Florida services providers.
  • Establish trade and statistics information exchanges.
  • Develop inter-institutional cooperation to facilitate the exchange of students, faculty, long-distance education programs, accreditation and validation agreements, and develop research and consultancy programs in areas of vital interest in both regions.
  • Promote and develop exchanges within the health services sector.
  • Promote and develop exchanges within the insurance sector.
  • In the area of tourism, introduce training programs, establish joint marketing programs, and encourage joint ventures.
  • In the area of agribusiness and industrial exports, devise mechanisms to encourage joint ventures, design market research on FLA for DR exports, seek inspection agreements, establish an agreement for dealing with effects of hurricanes, create a database of market opportunities in FLA, create an awareness plan about U.S. customs' norms.
