Projects and Programs

Portal Dominicanaonline.org

Portal Dominicanaonline.org Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) have created and are constantly enriching and updating of the Portal Dominicanaonline.org, a detailed, comprehensive and interactive website containing information, knowledge and audiovisual material related to multiple areas and sectors of the Dominican Republic. These areas include: Geography, History, Culture, Tourism, Commerce and Industry, Education, Environment, Health, Directories , among others. This effort constitutes the first initiative to compile and gather accurate and relevant information from and about the Dominican Republic in one sole web site.

The objectives of the Portal Dominicanaonline.org are:

• Consolidate useful, accurate and relevant information on various areas, sectors and topics relevant to Dominican Republic's citizens and other international audiences interested in knowing more about the country;
• Supply good quality and reliable educational content to Dominican and foreign users (children, youth, adults, educational institutions, teachers, researchers, etc.);
• Contribute to the positive image and international visibility of the country;
• Increase the quality and quantity of content related to the Dominican Republic present on the web;
• Promote a sense of community among Internet users from the Dominican Republic and Dominicans abroad;
• Disseminate and support the areas and topics portrayed and presented via the portal.

Through a collaborative effort with numerous national and international institutions, professionals and experts in diverse areas, GFDD and FUNGLODE are constantly updating the information and enhancing the scope and the depth of the Portal's content Also, close collaboration with the Dominican government, NGOs and private sector allows for a permanently fresh, timely and pertinent display of text and multimedia material.
