Program to promote and support the OAS' Lecture Series of the Americas

On January 2005, FUNGLODE, GFDD and OAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support and promote the OAS' Lecture Series of the Americas . The Lecture Series is a newly-created monthly hemispheric conference stemmed from a Summit of the Americas mandate and established by the Organization's Permanent Council as part of activities "designed to provide the peoples of the Americas with the best options for solving the problems that beset them."

As part of this agreement, FUNGLODE committed to transmit via videoconference each monthly panel of discussions and promote and disseminate relevant information about the conferences before and after the events.

For each conference, FUNGLODE also coordinates and hosts a panel of Dominican experts to discuss and analyze each topic.

FUNGLODE's objectives in implementing this program are:

•  Increase the level of dialogue and discussion around the relevant topics, presented by leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean .
•  Encourage and promote analytical debates of the impact of key international issues in the Dominican Republic
•  Promote face to face networking among Dominican experts
•  Raise public awareness in the Dominican Republic on the role and importance of the OAS

For more information on the program, please contact Asuncion Sanz.
