InteRDom Summer Seminar: “Doing Business in Latin America”
Santo Domingo, June 30 and July 1, 2009

The internship program InteRDom, an initiative of GFDD and FUNGLODE, will present as part of its 2009 summer academic program the seminar “Doing Business in Latin America.” The event will take place Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1 at FUNGLODE headquarters in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The seminar will be realized in partnership with The World Bank group “Doing Business.” The purpose of the seminar is to provide insight into the type of economic development that has taken place in the country and to analyze how related social and political phenomenon are transforming Dominican society.

Summer seminars are open to the public and represent an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange, gathering students from the Dominican Republic, the United States and Haiti.

GFDD, FUNGLODE and UNA-DR will Organize Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti
Port-au-Prince, Haiti, August 13 – 21, 2009

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR), in partnership with Haiti Action, will sponsor the Youth of the Americas Forum for Haiti (YAFH) and its subsequent Community Service Week (CSW). The Forum will be held August 13 – 15, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti at the Karibe Convention Center.

YAFH will unite more than 70 youth from the Dominican Republic, Haiti and across the world to foster the exchange of best practices and promote dialogue that will shape the design and implementation of development projects in Haiti. During Community Service Week, scheduled to take place August 16 – 21, 2009 in different locations of the capital city, students will have the opportunity to carry out community service work with two Haitian non-profit organizations, The Yéle Haiti Foundation and the Haitian Education & Leadership Program (HELP).
