Dominican Docu-drama “The Mountain” to be Showcased during Ibero-American Film Fest

February 26, 2014

On February 28th, GFDD and FUNGLODE are proud to support, through its Dominican Film Showcase Program, a special presentation of the docu-drama The Mountain.

The film screening, which is made possible in collaboration with the Dominican Embassy to the White House, will be shown at the Mexican Cultural Institute as part of the 2014 edition of the Ibero-American Film Showcase being held at various Embassies in the
Washington, DC area.

Directed by Tabaré Blanchard, the film depicts an extraordinary and inspirational story of human determination and achievement. In May 2011, a Caribbean expedition managed to make history by hoisting the Dominican flag at the summit of the world’s highest mountain: Mount Everest. The impressive feat inspired three young boys, sons of fishermen from the small southern Dominican town of Nizao, to set out to conquer the highest peak of the
island and the Caribbean Antilles: Pico Duarte.

This is the story that unites the story of the Mountaineers with that of the young boys, who learn the importance of personal strength, teamwork, comradeship and discipline, in overcoming obstacles and achieving present and future goals.

GFDD Projects and ICT Director, Semiramis de Miranda will present the film on behalf of the Foundation.

Mountain" Documentary – Drama/ 2013 / 80 min.
