The Children, Absolute Stars at the Dominican Film Showcase

November 23, 2014

3 al rescate, the first Dominican animated film, is screened at the Museum of the Americas before an enthusiastic children’s audience.

Yesterday, the children were the absolute stars at the Dominican Film Showcase that Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) has hosted since November 19th and until Sunday, November 23rd, in Washington, D.C. The children enjoyed the first Dominican animated film, 3 al
rescate
, a story about teamwork, friendship and loyalty.

The activity started at 4 pm in the Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States (OAS) with remarks by the Director of the GFDD office in New York, Yamile Eusebio, who stated: "It is an honor to be able to present to you, during this fourth day of screenings of our Dominican Film Showcase, a film aimed at the entire family. Our goal is to be able to offer a variety of genres
produced by Dominican citizens who have achieved an international impact."

After the film the children drew their favorite characters and shared their artistic work with their parents. At the end of the activity, the children
received a bag containing a variety of gifts from GFDD.

Based on the animated short film 3 para el banquete, by the Raycast Animation Studio, directed by Jorge and Luis Morillo, 3 al rescate tells the story of a goat, a chicken and a pig who, after suspecting that they will become Christmas Eve dinner, escape from the farm where they live and embark on an unusual adventure that will bring them to the city of Santo Domingo.

The objective of the GFDD-Funglode Dominican Film Showcase is to exhibit the best films that are produced in the Dominican Republic, made by Dominican filmmakers on Dominican topics, with the purpose of seizing a complete and positive perspective about the country.
