Dominican Youth Will Also Be Part of the II Dominican Republic Global Film Festival
Santo Domingo, 11/18/2008
Dominican children are just as important as the rest of those who are celebrating this year's film extravaganza underway around the country this week. To assure that children and young people feel welcome, the Ministry of Education has been divided up into six Regional Educational Offices corresponding to the cities where the festival is being held: Santo Domingo II, Santo Domingo III, Santiago Nagua, Puerto Playa and Higüey.

Premiere of “Sugar” to Kick Off Second Dominican Global Film Festival

The Second Edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival will open on Wednesday November 19 with the premiere of the film “Sugar” which tells the story of a Dominican baseball player who wants to make it to the Big Leagues to pull his family out of poverty. The presentation of the film will be attended by some 1,400 guests as well as several dominican professional baseball players from the US Big Leagues...

The 2nd Dominican Global Film Festival Honors Elba McAllister
New York, 11/6/2008
Adding to its already exciting events, the 2nd edition of the Dominican Global Film Festival is honoring Elba McAllister in a special tribute celebration expected to become an annual event of the film festival, held this year from November 19-23 in five cities throughout the country. Elba McAllister is co-founder, partner and executive president of the Colombian film distribution company Cineplex, which is celebrating its 15th year of promoting alternative films in Latin America. The main tribute will take place the 20th, at 7:00 pm, at UASD's Pedro Mir Library.

The II Dominican Republic Global Film Festival and the Global Media Arts Institute Organize Complete Program of Masters Classes and Panels

The II Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF), together with the Global Media Arts Institute (GMAI), initiatives of GFDD and FUNGLODE, promote the realization of formative activities with the objective of cultivating young talent, training seasoned multimedia professionals and enhancing public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the media arts. Second Dominican Global Film Festival Begins Volunteer Recruitment

The selection process for volunteers to help with the organization and development of the Dominican Global Film Festival will get underway on Monday, October 27, in order to prepare for the Festival, which will take place November 19-23, 2008. Meetings with those wishing to join the Festival Volunteer Staff will be held in the five cities hosting the festival: Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Higüey and Nagua.
