Announcing the Launch of GFDD/Funglode Fellow Christina C. Davidson’s “Analysis of Evangelical Christianity in the Dominican Republic”

On Tuesday, November 27 the most recent publication of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and la Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (GFDD/Funglode) Fellows Program will be launched at Funglode headquarters in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.

The research project entitled “Analysis of Evangelical Christianity in the Dominican Republic” is product of GFDD/Funglode Research Fellow Christina
C. Davidson.

With support from GFDD/Funglode, the author will lead the publication launch, which will take place at 11:00 a.m.

“Analysis of Evangelical Christianity in the Dominican Republic” provides a glance at two historical
protestant churches with great presence in the DR: the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the Dominican Evangelical Church. The author uses historical documents and interviews with church leaders to analyze how the institutions have changed and adapted to societal shifts overtime.

A number of special guests will be present to provide commentary about the work including: political scientist and theologist and the project’s research advisor, Marcos Villamán;
Bishop Telesforo Isaac; Reverend Miguel A. Cancú and Reverend and lawyer Margarito Rodríguez.
