Special Screening of "Blue Heart" Co-Hosted by GFDD/DREFF, Patagonia, DCEFF and CREST

On Wednesday, September 5th, a special screening of the film "Blue Heart" (2018) will be co-hosted by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), the DC Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF), the Center for Responsible and Sustainable Travel (CREST) and Patagonia, at the Patagonia Georgetown store in Washington, DC. The film, directed by Britton Caillouette, shows how dams and diversions drastically change the environment and contribute to global climate change, negatively affecting waterways, natural habitats, surrounding landscapes and entire communities.

Taste the Dominican Republic While Enjoying Some Baseball!

Saturday, September 8 is "Taste of the World International Food Festival" at Nationals Park! The Nationals will celebrate Washington, D.C.'s international community with the third annual culinary event heard around the world. The Taste of the World includes the possibility to enjoy numerous food and drink samplings provided by the participating Embassies, and the Dominican Republic will be there! GFDD is joining efforts with the DR Embassy in Washington, DC to promote the Dominican gastronomy, culture, and natural beauties! In addition to the pre-game festivities, the celebration concludes with a baseball game between the DC Nationals and the Chicago Cubs.

Let's Celebrate Dominican Culture and Heritage! Special Screening of "Hay un país en el mundo" in Washington, DC

Starting the celebrations of the Hispanic Heritage Month, GFDD, together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the United States will screen the Dominican documentary "Hay un país en el mundo" (There's a country in the world). The film, directed by José (Pinky) Pintor, is a walk through the natural landscape of the Dominican Republic, describing the country’s historic, cultural and social values as explained by experts in specific areas of interest. The documentary’s musical score is a production that features distinguished Dominican artists.
