GFDD and FUNGLODE gear up for CILA 2011, an initiative of UNA-DR

The Dominican Association of the United Nations (UNA-DR), a collaborating institution of GFDD and FUNGLODE, announced that the seventh edition of the International Conference of the Americas (CILA) will be held from October 26-30, 2011 at the Convention Center of the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

CILA 2011 will be an important meeting point for more than 1,500 young
people from different regions of the world to work together in an atmosphere of diplomacy and cooperation to seek solutions to the collective challenges faced by the international community. Students will also participate in seminars, workshops, exhibitions and cultural activities related to the attainment of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

In preparation for this annual student event promoting global issues of greatest importance in Latin America and the
Caribbean, UNA-DR has successfully kicked off a series of training workshops relevant to the particular UN areas to be discussed. 
 
The preparatory meetings, facilitated by Triana Aybar, Secretary General of CILA 2011, are in full session at the FUNGLODE headquarters and will continue right through until October 17.
