GFDD and FUNGLODE Host Launch of Spanish Edition of UNESCO’s Education for All Global Monitoring Report (EFAGMR)

January 17, 2013

On February 11th, GFDD and FUNGLODE will host the launch the highly anticipated Spanish edition of the UNESCO’s Educational for All Global Monitoring Report. Senior Communications and Media Experrt of the EFAGMR, Marisol Sanjines will be discussing the findings and implications of the initiative, which is in its tenth year.

The Report focuses on six main goals:
i) Expand early childhood care and education; ii) Achieve universal
primary education; iii) Promote learning life skills for young people and adults; iv) Reduce adult literacy by 50%; v) Achieve gender parity and equality; vi) improve the quality of education.

It is important to note that, “Education for All” does not only strive to achieve universal education, but seeks to prepare young people to succeed in the modern day world by ensuring that they acquire the needed skills and capacities to cope in today’s
economic climate. The youth population has been the most adversely impacted by the global crisis, with 1 in 8 without work.

The deadline to meet the Education for All goals is just three years away, according to the most recent Report,  and it is imperative we stay on track.
