GFDD and FUNGLODE to Greet United Nations G77 Coordinator for Economic Governance and Financing for Development

October 31, 2013

Close on the heels of the high level dialogue, held earlier in October at UN Headquarters, on the overall theme “The Monterrey Consensus, Doha Declaration on Financing for Development and related outcomes of major United Nations conferences and summits: status of implementation and tasks ahead”, the November edition of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development online
broadcast program "Global Roundtable" will be focusing on issues of Financing. On this occasion GFDD has the honor to host Victor Ovalles Santos, Coordinator for Economic Governance and Financing for Development on behalf of the United Nations Group of 77.

Established on June 15, 1964 by seventy-seven developing countries, the Group 77 is the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries at the UN. It
provides the means for the countries of the South to articulate and promote their collective economic interests and enhance their joint negotiating capacity on all major international economic issues within the United Nations system, and promote South-South cooperation for development.

A representative for the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the UN, and in his capacity as Coordinator on behalf of the Group 77, Mr. Ovalles will
discuss with GFDD Executive Director, Natasha Despotovic, questions that are set forth on the current UN agenda. Given the Global Roundtable guest’s expertise, the conversation will primarily touch upon Financing for Development issues, covering what it means exactly, how it is being implemented and what are the tools to make Financing for Development happen. In the course of the program, Mr. Ovalles will also speak about Official Development Assistance, good practices
and success stories of Financing for Development, and the need to build up a new partnership amongst nations in order to achieve sound Global Financial System.

About the Global Roundtable

the news, knowledge and understanding of other countries, global issues and work of different United Nations bodies to its audience in the Dominican Republic, the US and around the world.

The regular series, GFDD Global Roundtable is also a part of GFDD’s program to support the work of the United Nations and, as a non-governmental institution affiliated to it, contribute to the visibility and understanding of its work.
