GFDD and FUNGLODE Will Organize Internship Opportunities for Four Dominican Students with the Organization of American States

April 22, 2009

As part of their continued effort to strengthen collaboration between the Dominican Republic and the Organization of American States, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will be providing four young Dominican professionals with internship opportunities with various departments of the organization.

All four
interns have been carefully selected based upon their interests in international relations. They will be carrying out valuable work that will be utilized for the benefit of the Dominican Republic. Two of the selected professions will intern with the Department of External Relations. The results of their work will contribute to the media broadcast section of the department. One of the professionals will be assigned to Columbus Library, where he/she will work with historical graphic documents
related to the Dominican Republic. These documents and photos will be made accessible on Portal Dominicanaonline.org (www. dominicanaonline.org) – the first initiative to compile accurate and relevant information from and about the Dominican Republic in a single site. The fourth intern will work with the Education Department conducting research for a joint GFDD-FUNGLODE-OAS project proposal entitled “Teacher To Teacher” (TTT), a program that provides in-class
and online training to Dominican and Haitian teachers in the area of multiculturalism.

The interns will arrive to the OAS in May of 2009 and will carry out internships for a period of two months.
GFDD and FUNGLODE endorse and promote the objectives of the OAS and are active members of the OAS’s Civil Society, a community of non-governmental organizations that support the organization in fulfilling its goals.
