GFDD-FUNGLODE Participate in Dominican Week Activities with Panel on the Impact of Higher Education on DR Development

Under the umbrella of Dominican Week, the AmchamDR and GFDD and FUNGLODE are pleased to announce that Ligia Amada Melo, Head of the Secretariat for Higher Education, Science and Technology (SEECyT), will be the lecturer at a discussion panel this  Thursday, May 16 entitled: “Higher education’s impact in the Dominican Republic’s development.”

Aims to understand and number the direct impact that higher education has in the DR society in order to promote and support changes that meet the needs of both the new economy and society and the interests of all young people and adults. Moderated by both Dr. Ramona Hernández, Director of CUNY-DSI (Dominican Studies Intitiute) and Dr. Griselda Rodríguez, Director of International Studies Program CCNY, this panel discussion.

Contributions will be made by expert panelists in the field: Radhamés Mejía, Rector, UNAPEC, Dr. Juan Carlos Mercado, Dean, Center for Worker Education, CCNY; Dr. Jim Miller, Senior Vice-president of the Technological Institute of Rochester and Dr. Mary Hubbard, Vice-rector of International Education, Utah State University.

The panel is made possible in collaboration with APEC University, City University of New-York (CUNY), Center
for Worker Education and International Studies Program the City College of NY.

Audiences are invited to participate in this Higher Education Panel that will take place at the Center for Higher Education, 25 Broadway,  7th Floor, New York, NY, on Thursday, May 16, at 10 AM.

Later the same day at 6:pm United Nations Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium (Entrance on 42nd St and 1st Avenue) will be a venue for another Dominican Week event hosted by GFDD and FUNGLODE at the UN, called Moving Forward: Growth and Opportunities in the Dominican Capital Markets. This is in partnership with the Dominicans on Wall Street, AmchamDR and the DR Mission to the United Nations.
