GFDD Joined Organizers of the Harvard Model United Nations in its Sixty-Sixth Session

January 28, 2019

The United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) as well as la Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) and its sister organization in the United States, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), were present at the sixty-sixth session of the Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN).

GFDD’s Massachusetts Liaison Katy Polanco Berndt attended the event and was able to network and exchange ideas with faculty advisors from around the world.

The GFDD Massachusetts Liaison chatted with the organizers about ways to support one another and youth interested in debate and international affairs. Polanco Berndt also had the opportunity to meet and visit with some of the young Model UN participants.

HMUN was held from Thursday, January 24 to Sunday, January 27 in Boston, Massachusetts, with the participation of more than 3,300 high school delegates and their faculty advisors. Over the course of four days, the participants worked in commissions and discussed issues traditionally debated by representatives of the UN Member States.

GFDD’s involvement in HMUN is consistent with its mission of supporting the development of young people in the Dominican Republic and around the world. GFDD has a long history of collaboration with UNA-DR, which has organized and supported dozens of Model UN events in association with GFDD.

About UNA-DR
