GFDD to Represent Civil Society in the Consultation with Social Actors on the Upcoming VII Summit of the Americas of the OAS

Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will be part of the National Consultation with Civil Society and Social Actors on the upcoming VII Summit of the Americas, hosted by the Organization of American States (OAS). This event will take place on Friday, February 6, 2015 in Washington, DC.

The objective of the consultation is to facilitate the effective participation of representatives of civil society and social
actors of the United States in the VII Summit of the Americas process.

GFDD and other participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and prepare recommendations on the theme of the VII Summit: “Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Collaboration in the Americas”, suggesting improvements to the “Mandates for Action” that Heads of State and representatives of Governments of the hemisphere will be
negotiating in Panamá, next April 2015.

GFDD is a civil society organization affiliated with the Organization of American States (OAS) and active supporter of the organization’s objectives, of the Inter-American System and the Summit of the Americas program. As members of this community of the civil society, GFDD is always part of the annual OAS General Assembly and the Summit of the Americas process. During the year GFDD and the OAS also work together on
specific programs on democracy, regional integration, trade, environment, education, culture and drug abuse prevention, as well as internships and professional training opportunities.
