Global Media Arts Institute Summer 2007 Course: Introduction to Audiovisual Production: Film and TV

May 22, 2007
The Global Media Arts Institute, in association with One Race Films and New York University’s Opportunity Program, will be offering an introductory course on audiovisual production. The objective of this course is to provide students with the training required to work in the television and film industry. Upon completion of this course, students will have acquired the skills necessary to transform their ideas into audiovisual
productions.

Students will receive thorough instruction in the following areas: script writing, camera usage, the employment of light and sound, the development of scripts and storyboards, rotating production roles, and editing.

Each student will have the chance to
learn about the responsibilities associated with each component of the production process, and will then be able to apply their acquired knowledge. Throughout the course, students will also be provided with the opportunity to fine-tune their oral communication skills, in turn, furthering their capacity to effectively convey their creative visions to their colleagues.

The first
week of the course, students will develop a 30 second commercial or public service announcement, and will then learn how to edit it using Final Cut Pro. The second week of the course, students will learn about the production of live television programming at the Telecentro Studio. The third week of the course, students will utilize the software, Final Draft, to produce a 3 page script. During the final week of the course, four 10-15 minute films will be chosen to be developed. Each student
will play a distinct role in the production process.

This
course will be held Monday – Friday, June 4-29, 2007, at FUNGLODE.
