Meeting on Television Culture in Ibero-America

The conference, “Why a Television Culture in Ibero-America?” will be presented by José Manuel Pérez Tornero, one of the most renowned communication and education specialists in Europe. The presentation will officially open the Meeting on Ibero-American Television Culture that will take place December 6-8, 2007 at FUNGLODE Headquarters.
 
Producers of television
programs and other audiovisual genres, as well as students of the audiovisual arts and the general public are invited to attend the forum.
 
Pérez Tornero, Director of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona’s Department of Communication and Education and Founder of Televisión Española’s Television Educativa (Educational Television) will discuss the significance of television
culture in the Region, a subject the expert on strategic communication and educational television has analyzed from different perspectives and for multiple organisms and international forums.
 
Doctor of Communications, he has received, amongst other recognitions, the Premio Reina Sofía de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales (Queen Sofía Award for Social Science Research), and has written the following
influential books, Tribus urbanas, Comunicación y Educación en la Sociedad de la Información (Urban Tribes, Communication and Education in the Information Society). He is Vice President of the Asociación Internacional de Televisión Educativa y del Descubrimiento (International Association of Educational Television and Discovery) and a consultant on television related matters for the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
