More than 1000 Students Get Ready to Discuss Sustainable Development at CILA 2016

The United Nations Association of the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) together with Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) and its sister institution in the United States, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) will hold the twelfth annual edition of its recognized International Conference of the Americas (CILA) 2016. CILA is the student event on global issues of greatest importance in Latin America and the Caribbean. This twelfth edition of CILA
will be held from Wednesday October 26 to Sunday October 30 2016 at the Convention Center Hotel Barceló Bavaro, Dominican Republic (http://www.barcelo.com/).

CILA 2016 will be a meeting point for more than 1,000 young students from the Dominican Republic and the region to discuss, in an environment of diplomacy and cooperation, to seek solutions to the challenges facing the international community. The central theme of the conference is “Sustainable Development
Goals: From Words to Action”. At the conference 12 bodies and commissions of the United Nations and other multilateral, regional and international institutions will be simulated. We will also, offer seminars, conferences, workshops and exhibitions, as well as social and cultural activities on issues related to the agenda of the United Nations.

The conference will frame a series of parallel activities to the Model United Nations among which are: the Workshop for
