January 23, 2006

"Partners in Learning", a Microsoft program supported by FUNGLODE/GFDD, has been conducting a series of trainings to more than 200 teachers of the Ministry of Basic Education (SEE for its Spanish initials) in order to qualify them in theto effective use of technology in the classroom.

The main objective of these courses is to enhance teachers’ knowledge on applying ICT’s all through the learning process. It
is an intensive one week training program, held at the Americas Technological Institute (ITLA for its Spanish initials), an institution constantly supporting all "Partners in Learning" activities in Dominican Republic, facilitating its premises and equipment for the training of teachers.

Microsoft has donated all the resources and other materials used in the trainings, helpful not only to gain knowledge of the Office package: Windows,
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer, but as means to obtain necessary skills to solve other problems in Dominican school labs.

At the end of the one week training program, teachers have to take a rigorous test to go for an international level basic technical world wide validated certification

Under the program "Partners in Learning", Microsoft partners with Government, Ministries of
Education, and other key stakeholders to offer a spectrum of education resources-tools, programs, and practices-to empower students and teachers to realize their full potential.
