Official Launch of Management Plan for Sosúa Marine Park

On December 14, 2007, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), Counterpart International and the Sosúa Marine Park held an event to commemorate the launch of the official plan for the effective management of the Sosúa Marine Park. The event took place at the Hotel Casa Marina in Sosúa, Dominican Republic. During the assembly, GFDD Environmental Projects
Coordinator, Emy Rodríguez, and Counterpart International Facilitator, Kelvin Guerrero, discussed the objectives of the management plan and distributed copies of the official plan to stakeholders in attendance.

 

The plan will be implemented over a period of three years. Qualitative guidelines concerning
inspection, water quality and waste management were established to facilitate the implementation of the plan.

 

The development and implementation of the plan forms part of GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Coral Gardens Project. The program works to promote the development of a multi-stakeholder network invested in developing and implementing projects concerning coral reef restoration and the conservation of protected marine
areas in the Dominican Republic.
