President Leonel Fernandez Praises UNA-DR Accomplishments

President Leonel Fernandez praises the impact accomplished by the UN Association in the Dominican Republic (UNA-DR) 

During the closing ceremony of CILA 2005, President Leonel Fernández highlighted the impact accomplished by the UN Association in the Dominican Republic on thousands of students from countries such as Argentina, Nepal, Netherlands, Ecuador, Mexico and the Dominican
Republic, among other. He commented that by participating in this program "students developed important skills such that of reflection and analytical thinking".

President Fernandez also mentioned that the Model UN program coordinated by UNA-DR helps students have a different vision of the World. It also allows them to formulate resolutions and create their own criteria in order to interpret current affairs. Also, President Fernandez
highlighted the fact that students feel more engaged in the transformation process of their countries and that of the world.

Other high level officials who joined the President in the presiding table, included the First Lady, Mrs. Margarita Cedeño de Fernández; the executive director of UNA-DR, Mrs. Pilar Sandoval; Minister of Education, Superior Education and Science and Technology, Mrs. Ligia Amada Melo de Cardona; UNDP
coordinator, Mr. Niki Fabiancic; and Mr. José Alfredo Corripio and José Manuel González Cuadra, members of the UNA-RD’s board of directors.
