Six Movies Portrayed in DRGFF Nominated for Oscars

Six of the movies that were first portrayed in the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival, which took place from November 8-12 and organized by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development and its sister organization in Santo Domingo, Fundación
Global Democracia y Desarrollo

Babel, has received the most nominations (7) one of which is Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress. Pans Labyrinth received six (6) nominations: best foreign language film, original script and photography, among others.

Some of the other movies nominated were Volver, where Penelope Cruz has been nominated for Best Actress; the Last King of Scotland has also put Forest Whitaker on the nomination
list as Best Actor. Also an Inconvenient Truth and Water topped the list of nominations.
