Teachers and Professors Benefit from Grant for Quality in Education on Line Course

A total of 279 professionals of the education sector are benefiting from the grants offered by Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD,) in collaboration with the State Secretary for Basic Education (SEE per its Spanish acronym) and the State Secretary for Higher Education, Science and Technology (SEESCyT per its Spanish acronym) and are following the on line course provided by
the Organization of American States’ (OAS) Institute of Advanced Studies for the Americas (INEAM).

The course is being delivered on line to education professionals, most of them public school teachers and professors, and some from private institutions. It is taking place from September 6 to November 29, 2005.

The purpose of the course is to introduce teachers into the total quality principle applied to education,
providing conceptual and methodological tools facilitating the improvement of the educational services delivered.

During these 12 weeks, teachers will receive virtual practical training under the supervision of specialized trainers. Their participation will be evaluated according to their performance and will receive constructive and supporting feedback on a personal basis as well as a group. It is expected that participants will be able to apply the
acquired tools in their classrooms and adapt the innovations to their centers of learning.

At the same time, this only line course is an excellent opportunity to introduce education professionals into the world of distance education and to become permanent and active members of the world wide educational community that shares knowledge and experience by means of modern technology.
