UNA-DR presents the Ninth Annual CILA 2013

The United Nations Dominican Association (UNA-DR), in association with Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), presented the Ninth Annual International Conference of the Americas (CILA 2013) in Santo Domingo.

Co-chairing the event were: Emil Chireno, Executive Director of UNA-DR; Yamile Eusebio, Director of GFDD New York Office and Director of Training Activities at FUNGLODE;
Arlene Trinidad, General Manager of UNA-DR projects; Juan Laucel, President of the UN Educational Center (CENU), and Alan Fernández, Secretary General of the Ninth Annual Edition of CILA 2013.

Emil Chireno and Yamile Eusebio thanked the audience for motivating students to do their best in this edition of CILA. Alan Fernández thanked those present for the trust they have placed in him to lead this event for over 1,500 students from around the world.

Event moderator, Guillermo Sarita, announced the new season of the official UNA-DR radio program and the list of committees and other topics to be addressed at CILA 2013.

Alan Fernández formally opened the academic and logistical work associated with CILA 2013.

About CILA 2013
The International Conference of the Americas (CILA) is the student event on global issues of greatest importance in Latin
America and the Caribbean. This Ninth Edition of CILA will be held from October 27 to October 31, 2013.

CILA 2013 (www.unadr.org.do/cila2013) will gather some 1,500 students from around the world to work together in an atmosphere of diplomacy and cooperation to seek solutions to challenges facing the international community.

Fifteen UN bodies and commissions,
multilateral, regional and international agencies will be simulated. Seminars, lectures, workshops, exhibits and cultural activities on issues relating to the UN agenda will be offered.

There will be a series of activities parallel to the Model United Nations, such as: II Congress of Educators, a Global Concert, a Cultural Encounter, a Party for the Delegates, the Second Edition of the Dominican Competition on International Law on Procedures before the International Court
of Justice (CODOCIJ 2013).

The working languages ​​are Spanish, English and French. This event is undertaken in coordination with Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD).

X
