Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are currently participating in Microsoft’s Regional Partners in Learning Summit taking place in Guatemala City, which began yesterday, November 28, and will culminate today.

Representatives from nine countries are participating in the forum. The Dominican Republic is represented by
FUNGLODE Educational Projects Coordinator, Paul Goris, GFDD Educational Projects Coordinator, Yamile Eusebio, and Dominican Ministry of Education Representative, Milciades Ramírez.

The main objectives of the summit were to provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and experiences and to devise national strategies to increase the use of technological tools in classroom instruction over the next two years.

On Wednesday, November 28, the Dominican representatives gave a presentation detailing the collaborative work that GFDD, FUNGLODE, the Dominican Ministry of Education, and Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Program have realized with regard to incorporating the use of technology in education during the 2006-2007 period.

GFDD and FUNGLODE coordinate programs and projects in
association with the Dominican Ministry of Education and Microsoft’s Partners in Learning Program that promote the inclusion of technological tools in teaching and learning strategies within public schools so as to lessen the digital divide that presently exists in the Dominican Republic.
