GFDD Celebrates “Peace on Earth: In the Spirit of Giving” With NGO CSD

December 21, 2017

In Its capacity as a member of the NGO Committee on Sustainable Development (CSD) since 2017, the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) attended a meeting titled: ”Peace on Earth: In the Spirit of Giving” held by the CSD on Wednesday, December 20th from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

The meeting served as a forum for attendees to hear special declarations of appreciation from high-level United Nations (UN)
administrators and youth activists, such as Lakshmi Puri, Assistant Secretary-General of the UN and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women; Bruce Knotts, Director of the Unitarian Universalist Association, UN Office; Meredith O’Connor, Anti-Bullying Icon and Celebrity Youth Activist; and Dali & Finn Schonfelder, Founders & Co-Creators of Nalu: Dress to Give.

Marking the second full year of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
and the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2017 has certainly been a busy year for the CSD. Through its 2017 activities, the NGO CSD has promoted UN programs working towards these goals and worked closely with affiliated UN commissions and agencies to foster collaboration and achieve lasting results.

Following the declarations, a brief holiday celebration was held.
