Natasha Despotovic Presents the Dominican Republic Global Film Festival

During the VIII Conference of Virtual Educa Brazil, under the section, Cultural Industries, Executive Director of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), Natasha Despotovic, presented GFDD and FUNGLODE’s Dominican Republic Global Film Festival (DRGFF).
 
DRGFF strives to bring the best of international dramatic and documentary cinema to the Dominican Republic, and plays a leading role in
shaping and enriching the nation’s film culture. DRGFF uses film as a modern platform for the discussion of political, social, and economic issues. The Festival raises awareness and deepens understanding of global issues through portraying stories of events and people that have shaped our lives. DRGFF also seeks to promote the Dominican Republic as prime location for filming.
 
The First Dominican Republic Global Film Festival
took place November, 2006. The 2006 Festival premiered 18 films, of which 6 were nominated for Academy Awards; 4 ultimately received Oscars.
 
In addition to premiering star-quality international films, the Festival also included a variety of workshops and graduate-level classes with renowned international professionals in the film industry.
 
The Second Dominican Republic Global
