GFDD and Funglode Invite Ibero-American Educators to a Virtual Session on Educational Resources in Artificial Intelligence

May 22, 2025

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode) invite educators from across Ibero-America to participate in the virtual session “Artificial Intelligence Resources for Educators”, to be held on May 28, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Dominican Republic time) and 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Spain time).

Participation is free of charge, and registration is available via the ZOOM platform at the following link:

Please note that this event will be conducted in Spanish.

The event is jointly organized by Funglode, the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in Spain, and the Fundación Cruzando in Chile, with academic support from the MIT RAISE research team (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education).

The session aims to bring Ibero-American educators closer to tools and educational content that support the ethical, inclusive, and pedagogical integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the classroom.

The event will feature a presentation of the “Day of AI” project, a free and hands-on curriculum designed by MIT RAISE researchers to introduce students—ranging from primary to high school—to the fundamentals and real-world applications of artificial intelligence.

The content is designed for educators with no technical background and is structured into easy-to-use modules that foster critical thinking and technological literacy from an early age.

Event Program:

  • Institutional Welcome
Mariano Jabonero, Secretary-General of the OEI
Leonel Fernández, Former President of the Dominican Republic and President of GFDD and Funglode
  • Session Introduction
Mónica Gomariz, Director of the OEI Training Institute
  • Emerging Educational Trends and the Impact of AI in the Classroom
Ismael Gómez, Global Director of Digital Strategy at OEI
  • Presentation of “Day of AI” Resources

This initiative represents a joint effort to democratize access to technology education, foster critical thinking in students, and prepare new generations to understand and shape the digital future of our world.
