DREFF: Special Guest at the First International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal

CineEco, in collaboration with the Green Film Network (GFN), will organize the 1st International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals in Seia, Portugal, next October. The event, supported by the Portuguese Tourism Center, will take place during the 24th edition of the CineEco festival, October 13th to 15th. Natasha Despotovic, Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF)’s Director,
has been invited to attend as a special guest, together with representatives of the most relevant environmental festivals around the world.

This 1st Forum has the goal to bring together the most important 38 environmental film festivals in the world, members of the Green Film Network (GFN), with the purpose to strengthening ties, promoting debate and reflection the importance of the audiovisual platforms that promote social changes and sustainability. This event also
intends to contribute to a greater professionalization of the festivals, and to convene a general meeting to discuss common issues to each festival. Represented countries include: Albania, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States of America, and Portugal.

The Forum will have the presence of relevant international figures that stand on environmental issues and the cinema, encouraging debate and reflection on concerns of the contemporary world.

With this initiative, the municipality of Seia, which has the support of Tourism Center
of Portugal, intends to create a large international event in Seia, in order to affirm the territory, and strengthen the brand Serra da Estrela, in the tourism region’s center context.
