From Philanthropy to Corporate Social Responsibility

FROM PHILANTHROPY TO THE FULL DEVELOPMENT OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: THE AMERICAN CASE AND OTHER PRACTICES

Dr. Lilya Wagner, Vice President of Philanthropy at Counterpart International delivered the conference “From Philanthropy to the full development of Corporate Social
Responsibility: the American case and other practices” to a vast audience of interested representatives from the private and public sector as well as foundations and other NGOs from the Dominican Republic. The conference highlighted the evolution of philanthropy in the US during the last ten years and explained the new trends in the area. The conference was coordinated in collaboration with Alianza ONG and CEMEX Foundation from the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Wagner’s presentation was followed by a recount of the Dominican situation by Alianza ONG’s executive director, Ms. Addys Then Marte. The objective of this conference was to provide a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas in the area of philanthropy and corporate social responsibility as well as to provide information and with the opportunity for knowledge transfer from a renown personality in the field.

This conference was the closing event of a one-day course dictated by the same expert that included 40 representatives from various ONGs from the Dominican Republic. This conference is part of GFDD’s commitment to promote the exchange of ideas and transfer of knowledge in key topics for the social, economic and political development of the Dominican Republic.
