Funglode Announces the “Global Forum @ Casa de Campo: Onward to the Upcoming Summit of the Americas: Hemispheric Challenges and Renewed Perspectives”

On Tuesday, March 29, three panels and an introduction to the central theme will be held at the Marina Riverside Center in Casa de Campo. The Forum will bring together leading experts who will analyze the challenges facing the continent. The LIVE transmission of the event will allow those interested in following the presentations through Funglode and Leonel Fernández´s digital platforms.

SANTO DOMINGO – The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode) announced the celebration of the “Global Forum @ Casa de Campo: Onward to the Upcoming Summit of the Americas: Hemispheric Challenges and Renewed Perspectives,” event that will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, with the participation of leading analysts from the Americas, who will share their ideas in a hybrid meeting setting. The forum is supported by IDEA International.

The Forum will take place at the Marina Riverside Center, in Casa de Campo, and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. with the participation of former presidents Leonel Fernández and Felipe Calderón, from the Dominican Republic and Mexico, respectively. Also, by Robert Menéndez, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate of the United States of America, and Kevin O’Reilly, National Coordinator of the United States of America for the Ninth Summit of the Americas. Also participating will be Roberto Álvarez, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, who will deliver a keynote speech. Through videoconference, U.S. Senator Robert Menéndez will give a detailed presentation of the areas the Forum is scheduled to cover.

Other participants will include Celso Amorim, former Foreign Minister of the Federative Republic of Brazil; Michael Shifter, President of the Inter-American Dialogue; Abraham Lowenthal, founding President of the Pacific Council on International Policy; Marisol Argueta de Barillas, head of Latin America at the World Economic Forum; Iván C. Rebolledo, Managing Partner, TerraNova Strategic Partners; Kenneth Frankel, President of the Canadian Council of the Americas; Jane S. Jaquette, Professor Emeritus of Politics and Diplomacy and Global Affairs at Occidental College, and past President of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA); and Guy Mentel, CEO of Global Americans.

Opening remarks and the presentation of the Forum´s general program will be delivered by Marco Herrera, Funglode´s Executive Director. He will be followed by former President Fernández, president of Funglode, who will present introductory remarks and will speak on the “Next Summit of the Americas: Hemispheric Challenges and Renewed Perspectives.”

The Forum will consist of three panels, which will include renowned international analysts. Final conclusions will be presented by former President Fernández; Eduardo Gamarra, director of the Latino Public Opinion Forum of Florida International University (FIU), and Daniel Zovatto, IDEA International´s Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
