FUNGLODE Celebrates Its Fifth Anniversary

A gala dinner with almost 1,000 people marked the celebration of the Fifth Anniversary of Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo, FUNGLODE that took place at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo .

The President of the Dominican Republic and Honorary President of FUNGLODE, His Excellency Dr. Leonel Fernández led the select list of guests that also included Government officials, diplomatic corps, civil society, and private
sector representatives stressed the theme of the event "la dominicanidad," and honored those who, during these five years, have supported the creation and development of this institution with their resources, their expertise, dedication, and enthusiasm.

The portal of the Dominican Republic, www.dominicanaonline.org , the new web page of FUNGLODE,
short stories, poetry, film, and journalism are some of the prizes announced during the evening that will soon be part FUNGLODE’s program.

President Fernández, Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, FUNGLODE’s sister organization in the U.S., and Frederic Emam-Zadé,
Director General of FUNGLODE addressed the audience summarizing these five years of life with its challenges and achievements, the way the institution has found a place in the international scenario, presented new projects such as Dominicananonline.org, the Dominican Virtual University, and introduced the exciting new prospects with the creation of seven new awards for short stories, film, poetry, etc.
