GFDD and FUNGLODE Launch the Second Edition of Globo Verde Dominicano Contest

Following last year’s successful Globo Verde Dominicano competition held as part of the Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival, the GFDD and FUNGLODE are launching the second edition of the Short Film and Public Service Announcement Competition. The objective of the contest is to generate awareness around the importance of taking care of the environment and inspire sustainable development while providing an opportunity to young Dominican filmmakers,
students and professionals to get involved in making films about environmental issues.

As in last year’s competition, names of the entrants will remain anonymous. The two categories are: short films (15 minutes maximum) and public awareness announcements (no longer than 40 seconds).

First place winner in the short films category will have the opportunity to present his/her short film at the DC Environmental Film Festival
and attend all of its projections and special events. In addition the winner will receive a GoPro camera. Second and third place winners in this category will receive honorable mentions and a free training course of their choice at FUNGLODE.

First place winners in the public service announcement category will receive an iMac computer. Second and third place winners in this category will receive honorable mentions and a free training course of their choice at
FUNGLODE.

Beginning right now, the call for submissions is
officially open and will remain open until July 12, 2013. Winners of the competition will be announced at the closing ceremony of the III Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival on September 8, 2013.

Finally, it is important to point out that, since their founding, the GFDD/ FUNGLODE have viewed the environment and sustainable development as relevant issues, which they have continually undertaken
through their various initiatives. With programs that focus on the environment, the Foundation seeks to foment respect for biodiversity, natural resources and environmental actions that serve the ecosystem, not only among Dominican citizens but all inhabitants of the planet Earth.
