GFDD Brings Publications, Short Films, Talks and More to the 2019 International Book Fair of Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, D.R. – Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) participated at the 2019 International Book Fair of Santo Domingo with a series of events and activities for all, including publication launches, screenings of short films, talks with authors, recycling workshops, photo exhibits and a live presentation of the Portal. The Book Fair, celebrated April 26 to May 5th at the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, brought together thousands of Dominicans and tourists to this cultural celebration.

GFDD and its initiatives Dominican Republic Environmental Film Festival (DREFF) and, organized a diverse and complete program at the Funglode/GFDD stand, which included the screening of environmental short films for kids (“El Cambio”, “Peter Plástico”, “Bienvenido a la Tierra”, “Circular”, “Donde Vive Jovito”, and “Maxtlitlán”) as well as the winners of past editions of the Globo Verde Dominicano Award (“De Espaldas al Mar”, “Primeros Pasos”, “Mañana”, “7 Gramos”, and “Ciclos”).

The agenda also included the presentation of “From Scratch. Creando desde la Nada”, by its author, Dominican Economist and international coach, Ricardo Tirado; a live session navigating and all its content; and a creative recycling workshop for the youth, by GFDD’s program ReCrearte.

In addition, a photo exhibit from the best of GFDD’s publication “All Things Dominican” was displayed at the Funglode’s Biblioteca Juan Bosch in Santo Domingo for the duration of the International Book Fair of Santo Domingo.

Finally, and in collaboration with the Cinemateca Dominicana and the DR Film Commission (DGCINE), GFDD also screened its short films “Valor Vital” (Value of Life) and the series of mini-clips of Dominican values, traditions and heritage and the’s “Dominicans You Should Know” initiative, at the Centro Cultural Banreservas.
