GFDD will participate in the 26th General Assembly of the Conference of NGOs from February 28th to March 3rd in Geneva, Switzerland

Under the theme “Challenges Today and Tomorrow Towards Agenda 2030”, members of the Conference of NGO in Consultative Status with the United Nations (CoNGO) will meet to celebrate the organization 26th General Assembly and its 70th anniversary.

Since 2014, Global Foundation has served as Secretary of the Conference, working in partnership to empower NGOs/CSOs worldwide to fully participate in the United Nations decision-making process.
GFDD also actively part take as a member of CoNGO committees that deals with sustainable development and social inclusion.

During four days, the current executive board will provide a progressive and comprehensive briefing of the advocacy work done throughout 2017. Furthermore, NGOs representatives will hold elections to choose a president, as well as officers of the executive board. Yamile Eusebio Paulino, Acting Co-Executive Director of the Global Foundation for
Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Director of Educational Programs and Internships at our sister institution in the Dominican Republic, Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (Funglode), will represent the Foundation in its race for reelection.

Stretching the importance of the initiatives taking place among the Civil Society community, Cyril Ritchie, president of CoNGO since 2011 categorize this year”s meeting as “An important moment in the life of CoNGO
engagement of acting together", and describes NGOs/CSOs as  "front-line soldiers" in both advocacy and grass-roots cooperation with the United Nations System.
