Inauguration of Virtual Educa Brazil 2007

The inauguration of Virtual Educa Brazil 2007 took place June 18, 2007, at the Parque Tecnológico in Sao José dos Campos. The conference will continue throughout the week, ending on June 22.
 
Dr. Leonel Fernández, President of the Dominican Republic and
Honorary President of GFDD and FUNGLODE, delivered the keynote speech, in which he stressed the need to bridge the digital divide characteristic of modern-day society.
 
President Fernández argued that strategies for social inclusion, modernization, and competitiveness must not overlook the importance of incorporating technology within national education.
 
Mayor of Sao
José dos Campos, Eduardo Cury, reaffirmed the importance of uniting the nations of the region to discuss future strategies for incorporating the use of technology within curriculums.
 
High-level government officials, university administrators,  representatives from private and public sector institutions, and conference participants attended the inauguration.
 
Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) have been partners of Virtual Educa since 2002. Virtual Educa promotes the realization of projects regarding technology, education, and professional development.
 
GFDD and FUNGLODE are proud to be regional hosts of Virtual Educa’s Caribbean Chapter. Virtual Educa Caribe was established in 2005,
and takes place every year in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Virtual Educa Caribe supports and promotes initiatives related to professional development, sustainable development, and corporate social responsibility.
